LEVEL 1
WHITE PEOPLE CONFRONTING RACISM (WPCR)
-
This weekend workshop is for white people who want to challenge the racism around them — and in their own heads and hearts — and who are searching for a way to strengthen their work for racial justice. It’s for white folks who already do anti-racism work but want to develop their skills and deepen their approach. And it’s for white folks who want a better understanding of how white privilege and racism operate in society and inside of them.
In a nonjudgemental, supportive setting, participants will…
Build confidence in their ability to address racism through action; increase their understanding of how racism functions and what their role in it is; explore their internal racism and barriers to working on it; develop a personal vision for racial justice; build their skills in being accountable allies to people of color and working in coalitions; develop strategies for interrupting racist situations; increase their ability to support other white people doing racial justice work; and build an action plan of concrete next steps. -
This training is designed for any white people who are interested in understanding and confronting dynamics of racism and white supremacy.
This training is open to people of all ages, experience-levels, political affiliations, and backgrounds. Our Level 1 training is designed to meet everyone where they are, however experienced they are.
People with no experience are welcome to attend! You do not have to have done any previous work in anti-racism or have had prior training in racial justice to attend this training.
People with a lot of experience and skill around anti-racist practice are also welcome to attend! This training will offer spaces to challenge and support your further learning, at any point on your path.
Our online trainings are open to anyone in any part of the world, although our facilitators are all based in the United States and some of the content will be based on the history of the U.S. and the particular role of the U.S. within global white supremacy. International participants have still given feedback that this workshop was relevant for their contexts and learning as well.
The only requirement to attend is a shared value of racial justice and a commitment to your own learning and growth.
-
This is a 2.5 day workshop. Full participation, each day and for the full time, is required. We do not allow partial attendance, because each section builds on the last one, and it supports our group container to have everyone present for the full time.
Online workshop hours:
Friday 1:00pm – 6:00pm EST
Saturday 9:00am – 6:00pm EST
Sunday 9:00am – 3:30pm EST
In-Person workshop hours:
Friday, 5:00pm – 9:30pm EST
Saturday, 9:00am – 6:00pm EST
Sunday, 9:00am – 4:00pm EST
We recognize that it is a big commitment to give a full weekend to this work! We have found that we need this amount of time to accomplish our goals in this workshop, and we aim to maximize our time together. We encourage you to plan ahead to take care of other responsibilities (work, meal prep, childcare, pet care, etc.) so that you can be present as much as possible during our time together.
-
Our workshops are participatory and experiential, and we always use a mixture of group sizes and types of activities to engage a wide variety of learning styles and needs.
Read more about our workshop curriculum here.
We include a long break for lunch (between 45 minutes - 1 hour) in the middle of each training day, and include multiple shorter breaks throughout the day.
When we hold this training online, it takes place over Zoom, and we have the option for live captioning. We regularly use the screen share function to share visual and text media, and we also make use of the chat. If you have access to a computer or laptop, we encourage you to join the Zoom meeting by computer.
We also provide a manual with written content for our workshops, which we mail to your address in advance after registration.
If you have other access needs or questions, we welcome you to send us an email.
-
We offer this training on a sliding scale of $75 - $725 depending on your individual and organizational access to money and wealth.
Our sliding scale is an intentional effort to distribute resources equitably between organizations and people we work with.

LEVEL 2
CONFRONTING WHITE SUPREMACY
*This cohort-based training series is for graduates of White People Confronting Racism
-
The series continues learning and development for white people who attended the 3-day White People Confronting Racism workshop, who want to challenge the racism around them — and in their own heads and hearts — and who are searching for a way to strengthen their work for racial justice. It’s for white folks who already do anti-racism work but want to further develop their skills and deepen their approach. And it’s for white folks who want to take action based on their understanding of how white privilege and racism operate in society and inside of them. (For more on origins of WPCR, see HistoryTab)
In a non-judgmental, supportive setting, participants will…
Continue to build the necessary confidence and skill to address racism through action; deepen their understanding of how racism functions and what their role in it is; engage in somatic exploration of their internalized white supremacy and barriers to working on it; practice their skills in being accountable allies to Black, Indigenous and People of Color and working in coalitions; strengthen their capacity for interrupting racist situations; prepare to effectively support other white people doing racial justice work; and build a concrete action plan that includes a racial justice project of their choosing. After the initial three (3) day workshops, participants will attend three 6-hour follow up Saturdays over the next 3 months, with reading and “homework” in between. These will support participants’ implementation of their action plans which will include fundraising for BIPOC-led organizations and/or contributing to local racial justice work in accountable ways. We estimate 1.5-2 hours per week for homework. Follow-up sessions will also feature reflection, problem solving, additional skill-building and accountability.
-
This is a second-level training, and is only for people who have already completed the Level 1 White People Confronting Racism training.

Each day includes a one (1) hour break for lunch and more breaks throughout the session. Times above are in Eastern Time. Convert to your own time zone.
-
This workshop is facilitated with a similar participatory & experiential style as our Level 1 workshop, including a mixture of group sizes and types of activities to engage a wide variety of learning styles and needs.
In this Level 2 training, we also use emergent design to adapt the follow-up sessions to the specific needs, interests, and points of learning of the cohort.
As part of this training, participants will also have smaller groups of pairs or trios, and will be asked to meet with those groups in between training sessions. There will also be homework provided in between sessions of readings, audiovisual content, and ongoing reflection.
Our Level 2 training is held online, to allow people from many locations to be able to access it. The training takes place over Zoom, and we have the option for live captioning. We regularly use the screen share function to share visual and text media, and we also make use of the chat. If you have access to a computer or laptop, we encourage you to join the Zoom meeting by computer.
We use the same manual that was provided during the Level 1 training, and we can provide a digital copy of the materials as needed.

This sliding scale structure comes directly from the Anti-Oppression Resource and Training Alliance (AORTA). We thank them for their work and encourage you to read more about AORTA.
This list of questions aims to help you do some self-assessment to consider what rate to pay for this workshop. We know that all of our experiences regarding these factors are different and complex. We also offer private workshops for groups who are interested in doing this work together. This can help support a space to discuss internal dynamics, challenges, and action steps specific to your organization or team, as part of your work to center racial justice in your space and to move away from white supremacy culture.
If you have a group of between 13 - 22 people from your organization, congregation, workplace, or community and are interested in attending this workshop together as a cohort, contact us.
-
If you are attending a public workshop with a group of at least 5 people, we may be able to work out a group rate or discount with you. Contact us to work out a group rate.
